Requirements

If you are interested in having the Mobile Dairy Classroom Experience visit your school or event please take a look at our requirements:  

School  

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Schools must complete a request form and sign a Mobile Dairy Classroom Experience contract prior to confirming a presentation date
  • Schools must have enough room for a 12x34 foot truck and trailer to move, maneuver and park
  • Access to running water
  • 15amps/110 volt electrical outlet
  • Audience size must be discussed with dairy classroom staff prior to visit
  • School staff must organize audience members/groups in an orderly fashion and ensure they respect and act appropriately around livestock   

Recommended Requirements:

  • Minimum audience size of 150+ students
  • Access to a maintenance room (if available)
  • Covered area for audience in case of bad weather
  • School may need to supply dairy classroom staff with a map of school grounds and surroundings prior to visit if requested
  • Dairy classroom staff may need to view and walk through presentation site prior to classroom visit  

 

Event

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Events must complete a request form and sign a Mobile Dairy Classroom Experience contract prior to booking the classroom for their event
  • Events must have enough room for a 8x54 foot truck and trailer to move, maneuver and park
  • Event organizers must provide dairy classroom staff with a site map of event grounds
  • The Mobile Dairy Classroom Experience shall remain in the same condition as received.  Any damage is the responsibility of the User.  
  • 15amps/110 volt electrical outlet
  • Access to running water   
  • Events that run for multiple days must provide shelter, bedding and feed for the animals; this must be arranged with dairy classroom staff before a contract is signed.  

 

Recommended Requirements:

  • Volunteers provided by the event to help set up and take down exhibit
  • Access to a maintenance room (if available)
  • Parking for classroom staff and accompanying trailers
  • Schedule of events and announcements of dairy classroom presentation times
  • Media notification of the presence of the dairy classroom at the event

Presentation Details

  • Each presentation is between 30 to 40 minutes long and includes a milking demonstration, a calf feeding session and a question / answer period
  • Each presentation provides an overview of the cow (biology, nutrition, digestion), milk production (milking process, handling, processing), the BC dairy industry and the role that milk plays in human nutrition
  • Every presentation is conducted by a trained presenter and a facilitator
  • School visits and events are free of charge and provided by the BC Milk Producers Association and BC Dairy Foundation
  • Presentations are scheduled according to school and event timings, please inquire for further details
